Aerobic Effects of WholyFit!

I decided to do a little experiment on myself so I could know first hand just how well WholyFit met the cardio needs.

Here are the results.

I did the Heart Rate test using the Multi Level DVD. I did the DVD from start to finish,with all added bonus rounds, ect, doing all level 3 postures (except back bends) During the workout, I took my heart rate at the beginning and after each “section” and here is what I found to be true for me. (I researched the HR target aerobic range for my age, which should be 102-145 to produce aerobic benefits, which is 60-80% of my maximum HR..

Warm-up- First 5 min HR was at 96, by middle of the warm-up, HR 114. End, HR 120 (This is about 15 min of sustained HR at 68-70% of my maximum HR, putting me in the aerobic category.)

Standing- Beginning HR 120. End HR 126 (This is about 15 min, at 68-72% of my maximum HR, in the aerobic zone)

Balance- (end) HR 120 (This is about 10 min at 68% of my maximum HR

Matwork (end) HR 90)

Restore (end) Didn’t check, relaxed.

What did I learn? That WholyFit done on level 3 ROCKS as an aerobic workout for me. Between the warm-up, standing and balance i got a good 25 min aerobic workout as well as working on balance, strength, and flexibility. What could possibly be better? Do you guys even know how cool you are for following your passion and using your gifts and love for Jesus to develop WF? It meets all the exercise requirements and really is a COMPLETE WORKOUT!

The call to join the army of God, to be a family member in the Tribe of the Lion of Judah? Don’t you want to dance and call out and proclaim the Lordship of Jesus? Have you met the Great King? The Creator? He causes a new song to rise in your heart. He makes your feet start dancing and sets your soul on fire.

The Secret to Loving Exercise

The deeper your entanglements, the darker your trouble, the more you need restoration through quiet time with the Restorer of Souls, the Lover of your spirit, Jesus. He has felt all of the same heartbreak and trouble in this life we do. Let Him share yours and bring you to a brighter place in Him.

The Secret: Loving to Exercise

WHAT: I disagree with the whole idea about exercise being torture. No it’s not! Exercise is a gift from God! With WholyFit you don’t need to “just persevere” during exercise so that you will get the results. No, that’s a treadmill mentality. Instead, the process of exercise should be enjoyable and if you enjoy exercise you will get better results.

We were created to exercise. God would not create our bodies to need exercise if He didn’t also plan for us to be able to participate in it with joy. Yes, fitness takes work but fulfilling, meaningful work is enjoyable and it is also a gift from God because your passions and individual emotional makeup will be affirmed and your creativity will be inspired! If you hate exercise, you haven’t found an exercise system that works for you and most likely, you have never practiced WholyFit: Devotional exercise with it’s worship, prayer and meditation on Scripture. WholyFit is a joy.

WHY: If you hate exercise, you are not alone. The lie that “exercise has got to hurt to work” is a pervasive one that keeps us sitting on our butts getting more and more depressed every day. The truth? Exercise only hurts when practiced with improper sequencing of exercises or a lack of a proper warmup or intensity that is approached too fast and hard. Yoga can be guilty of this many times. (For example the very first posture in the Bikram sequence contains a painfully unsupported severe lateral spinal flexion with hands over head and is not preceded by a proper warmup). WholyFit routines are different than Yoga, and are sequenced so that too much never comes too fast and all is done in the proper order for maximum comfort. The body is always ready for what comes next in a WholyFit workout because WholyFit technique works with the way God has created our bodies, not against it.

Even so, the physical values of exercise like longer life and wellness, as significant as they are, still are not enough to motivate us and they are certainly NOT the end all. We want spiritual results too because training the spirit has eternal value!

More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ - Phillippians 3:8

HOW: Here too however, we don’t want just any spiritual component to be added to an exercise program! We want the Lord Jesus Christ and only Him. Yoga has a spiritual component too but it teaches spiritual concepts contrary to the Only Way, The Truth and the Life and Yogis commune with spirits that are at war with the Spirit of Christ. Yoga may be a spiritual exercise system but Yoga leads people away from truth and life.

These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence. - Colossians 2:23

No, we don’t want just any spiritual pursuit. In WholyFit we pursue and teach the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and only Him. Jesus will give us His joy, His peace, His Spirit and His friendship. WholyFit is exercise that is a gift from God! I started WholyFit so that you will see exercise as a joy, will exercise more and thus live a longer, fuller life.

INSTRUCTOR CUEING GEM: Thank you for shedding light on the lie that many people believe: the lie that pain is the only way to get fit. Thanks for teaching effective exercise that is also based on knowledge of the way God created our bodies, and for offering classes with proper sequencing and warmups. Your ministry is important, as you teach a renewed and joyful approach to exercise. Yes, WholyFit tones the body and reduces body fat, but the real value of all exercise is that it uplifts us body, soul and spirit.

Your right hand upholds me” is the name of the WholyFit posture demonstrated on the cover of the Intermediate DVD (Picture above).  “Your right hand upholds me” feels like flying while holding onto the Lord’s right hand.

‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand’ -Isaiah 41:10

WHY: Allow the Lord to lift you up out of your darkness and despair. Reach up. Soar with the Lord in the heavenly places, high above the cares of this world, taking His perspective through His power.

“But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” -Luke 21:28

HOW: If this pose looks difficult, don’t worry!  WholyFit is always self-paced and multi-level.  Most of the exercises on the Intermediate DVD are taught in three levels.  This posture is also taught in 3 levels so that you can learn in comfort and progress as you’re ready.  …and yes you can.

INSTRUCTOR CUEING GEM: The worship aspect of WholyFit may be understated in a gym setting for example, but it is always there. If you are teaching in a church there is a wonderful freedom to express worship verbally, to pray and to speak out Scripture together. However even in places where you do not have the freedom to do that outloud, as a teacher, you can worship in your heart, pray for your participants, and ask God’s Holy Spirit to come. Come, Lord Jesus.
